COVID-19... Prayer and Planning

I have not written anything on this blog in years, and this is partly because I've been doing extensive writing elsewhere. However, things have gotten quite strange in the world in the last week or so and I am itching to write something...anything. As of now, our universities in the state are extending Spring Break, and we will likely move to online learning for the remainder of the semester. This is such a blow to my morale; I need to go to work, I need to teach, I need to have a routine. I UNDERSTAND the need to keep our community and world safe. It just stinks. Then I received word a little while ago that my children's school would be out for a least the next week. There is NO WAY we can be inside for a week, quarantined from the rest of the world, without a plan.

I have decided we will homeschool next week. This will ensure that we have something to keep our minds and bodies engaged during the days. I am including our plan below; feel free to use it if you think it will help your family. Last, but certainly not least, remember to pray for those who are impacted by this virus. Some in our world have been physically impacted, but many have been emotionally impacted. Experiences like this can increase anxiety and depression, and social isolation makes the symptoms of these conditions even worse. If you find yourself struggling in this way, read scriptures like Joshua 1:9, I Peter 5:7, Phillipians 4:6-7, and Matthew 6:25-34. Remember, our God is not surprised by the things that are happening in our world, and He is still in control. And we are still His.
